Conn Helleberg and other similar mouthpieces?

What other mouthpieces are like the Conn Helleberg?

The Barth Helleberg and the Sidey SSH Original are similar to a Conn Helleberg--but remember, even with original Helleberg's--large & small, and the 'Motherberg'--the Early 'H' Conn Helleberg, wide varieties --and wide playing characteristics --do exist.....

Of course, the Conn Helleberg itself is the most similar, though as noted above, even that isn't to be taken for granted. From there, it depends on what you're looking for in the way of differences.

Cheaper? The Faxx is pretty well thought of, and the Kellyberg is not bad and unusually versatile.

Bigger? Marcinkiewicz H series are wider inside rim, wider throat, and they also come in a range of depths, but the supposed similarity to the Helleberg is hard to see. That's the general rule -- the Helleberg name is used fairly often by manufacturers describing their mouthpieces, but the cup profile will be more rounded, and the rim more rounded, unless it's strict copy of the Conn mouthpiece. Marcinkiewicz H are vaguely similar anyway.

Smaller? Schilke 66 for example. Maybe Laskey 28H? (Haven't seen one in person.)

The Denis Wick 1L was based on the "lucky boy" Helleberg mouthpiece.

Agreed - there seem to be so many varieties called a Helleberg - some claiming to be copies of an original. What I am wondering is how many varieties of "original" ones were there. I read where he had mouthpieces made for each horn he liked. If that is true, there should be many of them.

Did Helleburg not craft (alter) mouthpieces for different varieties of tubas he played on and brand his name on them? (the mouthpieces)
Where did I read that?
Is there an original design?

I wonder if, in a couple centuries' time, blokes will speculate about what the original blokepiece was.
