I recently put together some cheap folding stands for my sousa and my helicon and thought that others might be interested in copying them.

The total cost was $40 for both stands. I posted 2 pictures at the following url since I can't figure out how to get an image into this message. You have to scroll down and to the right to see the second pic.

My wife is happy that these things are finally upright and taking up less space in the basement!

It would take up even less space if your wife would let you screw the brackets to the wall

Interesting idea. My question is could you mount the brackets on the opposite sides of one sawhorse to hold two horns on one sawhorse?

That set-up looks good, if you pad the brackets, and you are content with the instruments remaining on the floor.

If you have a situation where you can fasten a bracket to the wall, there is a safe and very strong sousa/helicon holder available from D.E.G Music. This sousa holder has a rectangular steel plate with 4 mounting holes pre-drilled, and 2 solid steel curved arms with heavy-duty clear vinyl tubing on them for protection. I have several of these mounted on the walls in my shop to keep sousas and helicons off the floor and out of the way, but readily accessible. They are nicely painted, so rust is not an issue, either.
