Your computer collects information about the Web sites you visit. The ads you see on here (and other Web sites) are dynamically generated -- your computer sends information to the site, and then it gives you ads that are supposed to be relevant to you, and higher-interest based on what you've viewed in the past (so, everyone sees different ads).

Honestly, I'm not sure that I've ever clicked one of those ads except by mistake. Even if it's something I'm interested in, I'll just type in the address and go there on my own.
