After watching the thread on the King 2341 I was curious on what TubeNetters thought about the similarly priced Conn 5j?

Any thoughts, comments, loves, hates, etc....

Thanks!

The 5J is a nice "smaller" horn, but IMHO the King is superior in sound and intonation. The king, produces what i think of as a much larger/warmer sound than the Conn....

I've had a chance over the last year to play a Conn 5J at a middle school where I work part time. I play it on a weekly basis. I've really taken a liking to the horn, it has a nice sound, a big sound in the class room where we play, I'd like to try it in other venues. I know other horns get a lot of plugs on this board, but I think the Conn 5J could be a very good horn for a lot of people. Especially people who want a smaller sized horn. I urge others to check it out, and be open minded

not a bad horn

The 5j produces a decent sound for its size, but it's not a really big sound. It's built stronger than many other horns its size and is a little heavier than other 3/4 horns. Intonation is usually decent. If you don't need a really big sound like the King produces, it would be a good choice.
