I just made the journey to Newburgh, Indiana pick up an old raincatcher sousaphone that I picked up a few months back. I keep a few horns around, not that I am much of player anymore! This horn was in chunks, but it was all there. It had been hanging on a nail in the basement of an old house since the guy that played it died many years ago. Some time back it had fallen off the nail and trashed the bell and broken most of the braces, plus the solder had turned loose on several of the ferrules. Total wreck, but complete.
I sent it up to Dan maybe six weeks ago and I must say he did a marvelous job on it. It looks great and plays much better than I do. I could not be more satisfied with his work. He took some time and showed me a great collection of some very nice instruments that he has there and was just an all around great guy to do business with.
Thanks so much Dan, I sure am happy with what you did! Have fun with that other scrap iron I left you!

Thanks for your kind words, Ken. I'll take good care of your awful-clyde. Besides... once I get it back into shape.... I'll be the first to get to play it!

Pictures man! We need pictures! Before and after would be cool, but at least after! A big "+1" for everything you said about Dan too! I got to meet him this summer and play on some of his horns. Great guy!
