International Tuba-Euphonium Association
Dear Friends,

I am so very sad to inform you of the passing on September 1, 2013 of Ross Morgan, long time member of The United States Army Band (“Pershings Own”) in Washington, D.C. In addition to achieving the highest enlisted rank of Sergeant Major and being the enlisted leader of the Band prior to his retirement, Ross was one of the driving forces behind the annual The United States Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Workshop from its inception along with Jeff Arwood and Jack Tilbury. Ross was a fine tubist, always had a ready smile and an amazing (and quick) sense of humor. The deepest sympathy of our entire ITEA family goes out to Ross’s wife, Jane and his daughters, as well as to the entire “Pershing’s Own” family.

Jerry Young, President
The International Tuba – Euphonium Association

I luckily got a chance to thank him for his years of hard work on the Army Conference, which I greatly benefited from year after year. He was very humble and personable to a younger dumb college version of me.

RIP to a great man and musician.
