dinky tuba in Poland

Is a euphonium, or what? And what's with the odd leadpipe on the side, and that tiny little bell? Sounds like a bass, though. This street band certainly has the exuberant feel and enough tightness to have good musical fun. New Orleans comes to Krakow! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bk-zigW4u8g" target="_blank

It looks like he figured out how to use the door alcove as a reflector - smart!

There have been quite a few good Polish trad bands over the years - I have some recordings from the last 40 years that are really interesting.
This youtuba is from one of them (somebody else has a copy!) http://youtu.be/iMF8jnJD460 lots of other Gold Washboard Hot Jazz clips are available.

A specimen from c.1900 http://www.rugs-n-relics.com/Brass/tuba ... rtuba.html" target="_blank" target="_blank

This could be the answer for aging and increasingly incapacitated tuba players!

The Chinese are not aware these are still being made in Germany - and nor was Wessex Tubas until you posted link to this obscure website (which Google does not find in 'tornister tuba' search). I thought we were releasing something not otherwise available today...and my wording of the advert reflects accordingly

Cooome on guys! That horn is easy to hold and it sounds good. Please disregard commercial/political discussions and tell us what it is! . . and who's selling it.

I surely did. . . and I went onto the Cerveny site and looked for it. I guess I'm doing something wrong. . . again.

It's probably in BBb too. It dosn't seem to project too well here, but with a microphone,
It has an exelent 6/4 type tone quality !
Somewhere is a recording of the Moscow jazz band with and outstanding exemple.
FWIW Stas's tornister is not a Cerveny. The wrap is different from the Cervenys and he tells me that it is unmarked. He is unsure of its origins and is pretty knowledgeable about old instruments.

Thanks for your statement of the perfectly obvious! I hadn't been aware that information available via Internet search engines had expiration dates. ;)
