Here is an interesting question for this time of year. When your lips are dry and you're playing your horn, do you use Chap Stick or something similar to form the right embouchure on the mouthpiece?
On something similar, I had a small canker sore on my bottom lip last week and had trouble playing a bit. But it's now healed up. Any experiences with this too?

There are sooo many products for "dry lips" out there. All I woiuld say is to try some different ones and see what works best for you. most brass players seem to be very particular in what they will use. Iknow Berts is one of the favs..and my personal fav. The largest issue seems to be products that cause your pips to dry out the second you stop using them, usually those medicated ones, if I am not mistaken. Havent had any problems with canker sores though, so I'll reserve speculating.

I have had much experience with canker sores, etc. I could get pretty gross in describing some of them. Thanks to TubeNet, I now use Burt's. It works well for me. Chap Stick products are too waxy for me to use while playing.
