Conn 2J CC recordings

Post by Conn 2J CC »

Would anyone have any suggestions of recordings to buy where it's known that the Tuba being played was a Conn 2J CC? It sounds like Harvey Phillips made recordings with one, and Dave Gannett of Rosie O'Grady's Good Time Jazz Band did too. So, any others to suggest? A Conn 2J is the horn I own (thus my Tubenet name), and I'd just like to have some good recordings of other Tubists playing one too.

Thanks -

Anything by Meridian Arts Ensemble. Ray Stewart is phenomenon on his Conn CC.
Not sure if it's a 2J or a 3J.

I'm pretty sure most of Harvey's recordings were on the older Conn that he got from Abe Torchinsky although he did have 2, and 3J's scattered about his house. His horn, I think was that same .656 bore but with thicker metal and a bigger bell.I think Ray Stewart was in the college program at The Rat back in the 80's and bought that silver 3J from Dave Gannett, who got it from Harvey.Dave's album "Tubas from Hell" was on his 2J. Most of the Black Dog stuff was sousaphone. The guys who like em' sound great on em'.Ed
