I know this has been covered before, but, I really could use a refresher on the best grease to prevent this (without harmful after effects). My bottom fourth has been trying to leave town on Prokofiev. Thanks gang.

Hetman's Ultra Slide Grease... probably one of the stickiest substances known to man.

I'll second Hetmans Ultra...just make sure you dont want to ever move it..that stuff is super duper thick. But it is great for stationary slides that have a tendancy to move.

I will third that, and add that if you DO want to move it, they have combinations of thicknesses in their slide grease line. They advertise that you can mix and match to get your PERFECT consistency.

I agree with Joe on the "expander" thing--it can make a mess out of what once was a straight slide. But sometimes flaring just the very ends of a slide (using a tapered mandrel) a tiny bit can make a huge difference. The operation's reversible if need be.

But if your slide is leaky-loose, then I'm with Joe on the plating thing.
