J. H. Woods (The Helicon Schottische)?

I have had an incoming question about the full name and about biographical dates of J. H. Woods, who wrote The Helicon Schottische. I cannot answer these questions and would like to get information from TubeNet'ters in the know. The LOC tag says:
I furthermore were asked about the style of the trill in the 3rd bar of the first solo passage. My answer:
As for the trill it obviously should start on the main note. The musical line as well as period style dictate that. The question may be the speed of the trill. I attach a bass clef version of the BBb tuba part to which I have added 3 samples of the trill execution. With multiple soloists I likely would prefer the first, slower, sample for clarity.
