Community band in SW Ohio needs players

Post by daytontuba »

Until recently, I was playing tuba in the Centerville Community Band - a 80 piece band located in Centerville, Ohio, which is a large suburb south of Dayton, Ohio. The reason I have said "recently" is that I now find myself conducting the band, and my former tuba section mates have asked me to see if I can find a replacement for myself. It is a year-round band with the exception of a few weeks from the end of our holiday season and the start of the next year. We rehearse one night a week - always a Tuesday - from 7-9 PM at Centerville High School.

Our programming is a mixture of old and new, with a good amount of "pops" music, and the age range in the band is from 30 years old to 89 years young. We do two parades a year (well, we ride in a trailer) in addition to concerts in our local amphitheater (with a nice shell), local community events, and area senior facilities.

If you are in good driving distance of Centerville, Ohio - and would like to play with our group, just send me a PM. All players are welcome, and we have folks of all skill ranges, so there is no audition required - we just love to make music!

As a euph player sitting spitting distance from the tubas I've got nothing but great things to say about the band and resident tubists. Great fun!
