Windhager tuba mouthpiece shank size

Post by EMC »

Hey guys, just a few questions for anyone who has any experience with the windhager line of mouthpieces,http://www.whf-mouthpieces.at/ its a brand a recently found and one of the few that offer almost complete customization from rim shape and size to back bore, these things look crazy interesting to a self proclaimed mouthpiece junkie like me, and I'd be more than happy to give them a shot. I have an older Alexander 163 CC (1970-1977ish) and my only concern is will these mouthpieces fit, I currently use a Bruno Tilz euro shank size, and it BARELY fits with a nice twist I'd imagine it would fit similarly the Bruno but I'd rather be safe than sorry so if anyone can reassure me of the shank size of these pieces it would be greatly appreciated.

Windhager mouthpieces are great quality. My suggestion: contact Mr. Franz Windhager directly. He is not only the designer, but also produces these mouthpieces "in house". So, probably he will be prepared to make the shank size of your choice.
