Hi everyone--
as I've been prepping for the upcoming deluge of Christmas concerts, etc. I've been pulled towards 3 recordings just to sit and and enjoy:
Jim Self's new "tis the Season TUBA Jolly"--great playing, fun, inventive arrangements, the whole package. Worth it, and to support Jim makes it even better (what a great guy!)

Oystein Baadsvik's "Snowflakes-A Classical Christmas" It's just good listening. Available on itunes, and here, among other places: http://www.lowbrassmusic.com/artists/oy ... -christmas" target="_blank" target="_blank
"Once He Came in Blessing" – Music for Advent and Christmas Moravian Lower Brass. In a very different, yet amazingly inspiring setting, about 45 musicians from the Moravian tradition put together a warm, wonderful cd. perfect? nope, but really, really nice listening. http://moravianmusic.org/shop_music/sho ... -blessing/" target="_blank" target="_blank
And, further, two new cd's that have come to press this fall that I really enjoy-- (but not holiday oriented)
"Praxis" by Brian Meixner--euphonium and percussion--some really fine writing and playing from all involved.
(available from http://www.brianmeixner.com/" target="_blank" target="_blank)
and I just got this today, and thoroughly enjoy the variety of works and level of performance:
"Ursa" by Stephanie Frye--all music by women composers (available from http://www.stephaniefrye.com" target="_blank" target="_blank)
and, finally, if you just want something different and fun:

no tuba, but, worth taking a listen!
unsolicited suggestions for listening
