Hello all,
Can anyone recommend the good music shops on Seattle?
I will be looking for scores, chamber music and brass music.
Thank you,
Kathott

JW Pepper's store in Kent, which is just southeast of Seattle, might have what you're looking for.

There used to be a place called Johnson-West(?)

Someone who likes to read music might have better information, but I believe Johnson-West has been gone for a decade or so. Capitol Music is still clinging to life, currently in a small store in the University District, with a collection that would have been nothing special in any typical music store 20 years ago. This has something to do with the web - which you can also search to find out more answers to your questions. For example, Ted Brown was a big music store in downtown Tacoma in the '80s, with a large upper floor stocked with tons of sheet music, and today I see them listed as representing JW Pepper in some capacity. They aren't downtown any more, and I doubt very much they'd still have those tons of sheet music, but I don't get down there very often. If you're interested, call them and get the JW Pepper story - Kent is far enough from Tacoma that it's worth checking.
Most online conversations I see on this matter seem to regard Vancouver BC as a potentially better location for sheet music retailers. I have no idea. That could be people who haven't been there recently, remembering how it was a few years ago.

Ted Brown's main store is now located near the Tacoma Mall and they have a limited selection of music. Most of it is school-oriented with method books and solo/ensemble contest lit. There are a few more satellite locations but I'm not sure what they normally stock.

I don't think there are any well-stocked music stores in the Seattle area anymore. Years ago, it was actually worth the drive to Portland just to visit Sheet Music Service. They are gone too:
