Looking for a new gig bag for my PT6P. Anybody have any brands they like more than others? Thanks!

I have bought an FMB bag for my rudolf Meinl 4/4 BBb and I can recommend them strongly.
The built is high quality and the degree of protection is very good for a gigbag.
The company is straightforward and easy to work with, + they know about tubas.

Thanks for the tips. I have an Altieri for my F tuba, but think I want something different. Can you even get Reunion Blues new anymore? Some time ago I tried to order one and was told the factory in Brazil that made them burned down.

I got my gig bag direct from B&S, although it was fairly expensive it does the job and i'm happy to put my Tuba inside it without worrying about dents.

I used to have a leather cronkhite bag for my F. I use one of the PT6 bags from custom on my PT6 and the craftsmanship is not great, but does get the job done. I miss the fit of the horn in the cronhite bag AND the placement of the straps on the bag. They are a lot more comfortable to wear on your back.

++1 - I don't have a PT6P - but the PT6P fits my Kanstul 5490 perfectly. Everything people have said about the Cronkhite is true and more.

The tuba actually feels lighter on your back because of the bag.

It's more expensive than other bags - but your tuba is more expensive than other things too.

Cronkite all the way, I like the side loader and have bought three of them each in a different color.

Cronkhite bags are great, but I never felt all that comfortable walking long distances with it -- the bag sits too low on your back. I also think the accessories pouch on the front isn't great -- it's a good size for music, but for mouthpieces, oil, etc., it's awkward. I don't have a ton of confidence in the snaps, either. That aside, it's custom tuba luggage, and it's great stuff.

On the flipside, the Alteiri bag was much easier to walk long distances with, but it sits too high up on your back (it's kind of goofy how how it can be). The front pouch pocket on the front of the Alteiri is even worse than the Cronkhite. Thin padding -- it's a "dent bag," and now that I've had other bags, I could never go back to Alteiri.

My favorite "happy medium" bag is the one that Miraphone makes. Protection-wise, it's as good as anything else. The pocket on the front is more reasonable, and there's a pouch inside the bell cover for mouthpieces. The straps are comfortable (enough) too. Worst part -- it's ugly. Not sure if there is a size that will fit a PT-6, but it's nice for Miraphone tubas.
