Can't Vote - My Miraphone Ain't Listed

Post by Randy Beschorner »

Out of the bunch you listed, money no objective, and I was playing the euph all the time, I'd vote for the Prestige 2051. But the probably with most surveys is that there are assumptions being made. Most my time now is spent on my Besson 983, so tying up that much money on an euphonium is a little silly. I tried the others and ended up liking the Miraphone 1258S the best. I managed to get the old pricing on the euphonium before the inflated euro.

As has been stated here many times, asking others what they like is not as helpful as asking them why they like it. Asking others why they like a particular horn is not nearly as helpful as actually playing them. I have noticed that a particular mouthpiece that works well with one brand euphonium for me ends up going south when paired with a different brand/model horn. That is another element to finding the sweet spot of a horn.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to go with my Conn 5-valve double-bell euphonium on this one. Satin silver with polished braces, short-action valves, and a gold flush. Beauty to play AND look at!
