I played last year in our school's production of "Ragtime," and I just got an offer to play in some other one in the local professional theatre, though I don't recall the name. It's along the same lines as ragtime as far as musical style I believe.

Some years ago I wrote a musical "Looking-Glass Land" for a community theater, and included a duet "Beautiful Soup" for the Mock Turtle and Sousaphone, which brought down the house. (Any inquiries by B'way producers gladly accepted.)

Barnum has one.

I believe "Chicago" has a tuba part ?

Oh, and I think my teacher mentioned playing for Fiddler on the Roof one time, though he may have been doing bass bone.

"Annie", "My Fair Lady", i think "The Scarlet Pimpernel" has one, probably "West Side Story" there's plenty of them, but not "Once Upon a Matress"(my high school's musical, so angry!)

I played in a production of Cabaret once.

The original version of The Boy Friend has a tuba part.

I believe that Kismet has a tuba part, too.

I've played in "Annie", "My Fair Lady", and "The King and I".

I've done "Annie" and "Lion King," but both were bass 'bone doubles

Carousel has one that's pretty fun.

Chicago has one and it was great fun to perform.

Doing Ragtime in the summer.

Still have to think about some others to make sure if they have parts.

I played Oklahoma on bass, and when we got to "Pore Jud is Daid", I really wish I had used my tuba. I don't know if a tuba part actually existed, but we didn't have a tuba player. It was quite a nice brass chorale, but I was trying to achieve a good blend with the wrong instrument. Anybody who doubles should consider dragging along both instruments for that one.

Unfortunately there isn't tuba in the orchestration; too bad -- it would be a great show to play.

I've played the tuba part in The Sound of Music. It was fun to play in the pit. On stage will be great fun. Have someone take pictures!
