Bach mouthpieces: how is their gold plating?

I dislike the gold plating of Denis Wick mouthpieces, their silver plating is much better. I like the gold plated rim and cup of my Yamaha Yeo bassbone/euph mouthpiece because the gold plating is done on top of silver plating.

A Norwegian friend asks about a Bach 4G with a gold plated rim, and I have no first hand knowledge about the quality of Bach's gold plating. I have seen photos of the 4G and the decorative engraving on the outside of the rim is not of my liking. However the main question is, whether the gold plating is of a lasting quality. Please tell!
