American F Tubas?

I got to thinking about the Conn F tuba, and thought to myself that American manufacturers historically did not seem to get too much into F tubas. It was really more of a European thing to produce F tubas.

Is my impression true, or were there a lot of older King/Conn/Beuscher/Martin F's out there?

To my knowledge, no F's, other than as a "one-off" were ever manufactured as a regular production item in the USA. There was no market for it--if an orchestral player wanted an F, there was no shortage of European manufacturers to satisfy his need.
