How often do you give your tuba a thorough clean?

I clean the instruments I play regularly at least once a year by giving them a bath and snaking out all the tubes. I'll clean the valves in vinegar or some other mild acid and then in an ultrasonic cleaner.

I'll take the instrument in for a professional chem clean every few years. But my saliva is not terribly acidic and I don't find that my instruments show signs of corrosion to the extent that others find.

Of course, if I practiced more, I might have to clean them more often, heh, heh.

My wife bought me two of those "HW Brass Saver", kits with the bushy brush on some sort of plastic heavy duty snake. My goodness the stuff that came out of the second valve. . . and I do not eat, without brushing, before I play. Defintely worth a try.
