Double-Bell Euphonium - Video

I've done a few videos lately, but I thought it was high time to do one with my double-bell euphonium. It's short & sweet - my arrangement of Neapolitan Dance at about 2 minutes. The horn is a Holton 5-valve from about 1935.

Instead of going for fireworks, I let the bells follow the music. The big bell takes the moderato sections and the small bell takes the presto.

Later I'll upload the same song on my normal Adams Custom euphonium, which will make a good bell-to-bell-to-bell comparison!

I also own a Holton Double Bell built in 1939. My horn has two bell fronts instead of an upright larger bell. Looks like Holton made these with both upright and bell front larger bells.

I suppose Holton made the single-bell model with both types of bell, so it was an easy option for the double-bell.

It sounds spectacular because you play spectacularly (not much of a word, but it works here).

Good arrangement--really wonderful playing!
