Miraphone Mouthpieces

I've been using the Miraphone 27 "Rose Solo" for the longest time. I feel I sound better on Miraphone mouthpieces in general and I would like to get another one. Does anyone know if there is a difference between the Miraphone 27 "Rose Solo" and the Miraphone 25 "Rose Orchestra" besides just the size?

I'm not really sure, except that I really like the Rose Solo and never really "got" the Rose Orchestra.
I've also tried the TU-31, and thought that worked pretty well for me, but not as well as other Helleberg style mouthpieces.
I'd be interested to try a TU-23 (modern version of the classic C4). People seem to really like these, and it seems like the older the C4, the better.

A couple of guys I play in section with in community band have the Rose Symphony mouthpiece. One has the old "stovepipe" version of the 186 BBb, and one has the new wider flare version of the 186 BBb. They both sound great, and both guys have good tone and intonation, keeping in mind the usual "flat 5th partials."

I've got a TU-23 coming in... I'll let you know what I think of it after I've played on it for a bit.

I played on Rose Solo for years starting in college. Jim Self told me to get one after I had started taking lessons from him while I was at Long Beach State back in 1976-77. I think it is better on the high range, but for me now, I think it is too bright sounding for ensemble playing. Also it depends on what tuba you are playing. If I was to play a solo on my Holton 345 I would definitely consider using it. I still own one and I get it out and practice with it once in a while. My sound cuts a lot more when I use it, but then that is what a "solo" mouthpiece is supposed to do, right?
