Tuba solos to please little people...

Hi,
My husband plays Eb tuba. Our young sons (2&4) love listening to him play. I would like to buy him some tuba solos that are interesting for him to play (rough standard grade 5-6; competent amateur) and that they will like too. Any recommendations for specific books or online suppliers would be gratefully received.
Thanks,
Tuba Widow

For starters, have him get piano solos of songs they know and have him play the melody by adding 3 flats to the treble clef key signature. Then check out cimmeron press or brass works 4 for titles. You'll find there are some good choices for solos there. Also, search the internet for Sanae Kanda. She has Reflections, A Spring Morning and few other things that would likely work.

Couldn't possibly comment on any Tubenetters physical appearance, but so far the comments have been helpful! Thanks. Although, I know nothing about brass playing at all so I may need a little more guidance. If you could tell me the composer as well as the piece that would help me lots. I don't want to ask my Tuba Bloke as it is for his birthday present.

Start by looking for Robert Schumann's Album for the Young for tuba. Pleasing tunes for the little ones. My grandson really likes these.
There are many books and sheet music available also with cartoon themes and movies music appealing to little ones. Look, e.g., at

There are also the four books by Peter Lawrance (e.g. Easy Winners, Winners Galore, etc) that have simple, recognizable tunes (e.g., Happy Birthday, Popeye, Camptown Races, and so) that are appealing. A nice feature of these books is that they are scored in a comfortable Eb tuba range.
