Fifth valve

Sorry to keep spamming you guys with questions, but I really need to get this horn up and running soon. The horn itself came with two options for the fifth valve slide, one being the flat whole step (This is the one that makes the horn play in BBb, right?) and another significantly longer option that I am not entirely sure what it does. I think it might be the one that puts the horn in Ab, but I'm not at all sure about that. Any ideas? :tuba:

Yes. I just wanted to be sure. Never hurts to ask somebody who knows what they're talking about.

Flat whole step, yes, I'm not sure I'd think of it as making the horn play in BBb, though. Certainly I can't just hold down 5 and play the horn with BBb fingerings and play in tune and with a pleasing sound. I think of it as access to alternate fingerings down low.

Take a look at examples 2 and 3, and decide which you prefer.
