Hey Marty,
You might try contacting John Tuinstra at Whitewater--it seems to me he knew something about that piece--he may have been in on the premiere. Crawford Gates used to conduct the Beloit Symphony back when I was there, but I never met him. Think he may have taught at Beloit College, too.
Let me know what you find out--I haven't thought about that piece in awhile, and I'd like to get it myself!
