Where do I get new pistons for Besson 3+1 tuba? Are the sizes of Besson the same for every BBb tuba? What is a cost for a set of new valves (pistons)? ALL SET, DON't NEED THEM ANYMORE, THANK YOU FOR HELP.

Besson has changed several times in the last two decades.

What is the vintage of your Besson?

My student is thinking about buying the tuba from somebody. The pistons have some slight wear but the tuba is very nice, straight, no dents for 2000. Sovereign model. Don't know the vintage.

IF that tuba actually needs replacement of the valves, don't bother with it. From what you say about it I very much doubt that to be the case. In fact, I doubt it needs a refit even. It sounds like it would be a reasonable price.

I don't necessarily agree that they are such terrible instruments either and rarely are parts, other than maybe valve guides needed.

IF it really is in good condition and the student likes it - TRY before BUY, fine.

I would suggest though, that Dan could probably supply a nice King, with possibly newly refitted valves for about the same price and that it would be a wise investment. I can recommend that path as I have taken it myself.

Thank you for help guys. It was a BE994gs with a case, mint condition. There was a smudge on the 4th valve and the guy thought the valve was worn out. Anyway, somebody bought it. Thanx again.

I'll try to find it, thanx Mark. B/W. I messaged you if you've made the purchase of that cheap euphonium if not I was second.
