Would the normal Balu mute size fit a MW Thor or would an XL Balu mute be needed?
I've heard mixed answers about the size I would need

Not sure if you have an older or newer Thor, but on my newer Thor (with the slightly wider bell) the regular Balu just does not work out even with the biggest corks as far up as possible. You'll have to look into an XL mute.
