BMB J-345 EEb tuba opinions?

Greetings fellow tubenetters!

Ok I'm still looking for a good EEb tuba. I'm going to Custom to try the PT-22 next week. However, I stumbled upon BMB tubas and their EEb looks great. Has anyone played this tuba or if you own one what's your opinion? I think this is the type of horn I'm looking for to compliment my PT-4. Other horns I'm looking at is the PT-22, MW 2141, MW 2040, kanstul 66-S.

As far as "why" I'm looking at EEb tubas, I'm not a professional, nor do I teach, nor will I audition for anything. This is purely a hobby and as a way to have an artistic outlet. I stopped playing for seven years and I didn't realize how much I missed playing. So as I said above I'm looking for something to compliment my forthcoming PT-4, and as a way to have fun.

Thanks for thoughts and opinions

Luke

Hi-
Great tubas. If I was an Eb player, I would check them out. Good luck!

I had the BMB and thought it was a great horn. I did have to cut the first and 3rd valve slides, but that was an easy fix.
I now own a PT-22p which I love. For me it is the sound I was after. Both are great. I lucked out where I was able to get the B&S for a little more than the price of a new BMB. Custom had a PT-22p at TMEA two years ago which I loved, but couldn't afford the price tag. I found mine a few months later.

I prefer the B&S, but if you can't find one I think you will be happy with the BMB. They were the #1 and #2 e flat tubas on my list including having tried some of the others you had on your list.

Thanks for your input. This helps a lot. I think I'm going to love the PT-22 but price will definitely be a factor.

How was a comparison between BMB 345, Kanstul 66s and PT-22?

I wouldn't rule out the Wessex E-flat compensating tuba or the other *stencils of this instrument. These are really good and worth investigating especially considering the brand new price of these tubas are probably going to be cheaper than the used versions of what you listed.

*Stencils of the Besson BE982

I used to play a Conn Giant Eb next to a PT-4. Imo, a big bell Eb is too similar for the money. It was actually a little darker (the Conn) than the 56J I also played in a different group.
