Missing Weril 3rd valve slide

Hello everyone,

I found a 3 valve Weril baritone with a mouthpiece and case for just about nothing. The reason I found it so cheap was because the first valve stem and finger button are missing. That is an easy enough fix, but the main problem (as stated in the heading) is the missing 3rd valve slide.

What is the best method for remedying this problem? I've never had to get a part fabricated, so I was wondering how much that could cost? Would it be easier to look for a junk instrument with a valve slide of the same size? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I went to buy the instrument last night, but there were some other problems I hadn't been told. Along with the 3rd valve slide, the 2nd one was gone as well!

I put my mouthpiece in so I could at least test the open bugle and there was something creating a lot of back pressure. There were no big dents, so my guess was severely misaligned valves or something really stubborn stuck in the horn.

I offered them a little less than what I had initially told them because of the 2 new problems, and we couldn't agree on a price. Oh well! I was probably going to try using it for parts in that condition anyway.

Was this a full size (4/4 horn)??? Because the Weril 3/4 tubas that I have played were very stuffy

It's a 3 valve euphonium, and this was much more than stuffy! Haha

This is to everyone that knows more about instrument value than I do. How much would this instrument be worth as spare parts? To sum up the last few posts, it is missing the 1st valve finger button, the 2nd valve tuning slide, and the 3rd valve tuning slide. There is also an unknown something blocking a lot of air flow. The good news is it has a case that is in OK condition and a mouthpiece.

Update: the seller accepted my offer on the horn today. I just posted in the for sale section that I'm looking for parts. I'm hoping someone has a horn in for-parts condition that would be willing to sell me the ones I need.

I've tried contacting the Weril company for replacement parts, but they aren't very good at getting back to me, so I'm not relying on them.

I know it's a slim shot at someone having the parts I need, so what other options can I look in to? Could I expand my search to other horns that have similar slides? How do I go about figuring out if there are any compatible brands/models? How much would it cost to fabricate new slides?

If if helps, it's a Weril H670. I'm almost certain. Here's a link: http://www.jimlaabsmusic.com/band-orche ... d_475.html" target="_blank

The bell and one or two bows could make a good cimbasso project

I'm not against making a cimbasso, but that would require a lot of other parts! haha.
