Slick slide - HELP PLEASE

I have an issue with my Meinl Weston 182 F tuba. My main tuning slide seems to be slightly to small for the receiver. It will stay if it is completely dry of any grease for about one inch pulled out but after that, the pressure when I play just makes it slide out. I've tried using thick greases but that just makes it more slick and it will slide out on its own. I have put 3 or 4 dents in this slide because it has fallen out when I'm playing (I've caught it many times by pure luck). Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can fix this?

Take your horn to a competent repair tech and have them expand the end of the inner tubes just enough to assure a good fit. It's a simple job for someone with the right tools.

If someone with the right tools is not immediately available you could also solve the problem with a piece of string. Look up "tautline hitch" in your boy scout manual.

uh-oh. My repairman solved this by holding this outer ends in one hand and giving it a small quick squeeze. Un-parraleling it.
Should I stop taking my horn to this guy?

Rhetorical question.

You still have a slide that is loose and probably leaking.

Definitely not loose. I'll check for leaks.
I'm not a tech, but I'd have thought that the only difference between the way it is now and the way it was is that the slides scrapes a tad as it goes in. I can still get both ends into the "male" section easily enough with one hand.
Maybe I should clarify that I don't believe that the slide is too small, just that it was aligned really well (properly?). Like one would want on their 1st valve slide for manual manipulation.
