Inexpensive CC tuba project

I have a good tuba student going off to college this fall, and his future instructor has required him to obtain a good CC tuba. I thought it would be wise for him to spend a little time fooling around with a CC before spending a lot of money on one, so I threw together a junky CC "frugalhorn":

This is not an instrument that I would want to play in public, but practicing on it does make it a lot easier for me to feel comfortable with a better CC tuba. I wish I had been able to find a horn like this 50 years ago.

I like the fourth valve being a rotor, adds character.
