1. What are elliptical tuning slide crooks?
2. How does this improve tuning and control?

The slides look squared off, moreso than even Martin tubas. I've not given thought as to how or why this would be an advantage. Thoughts on this sidetrack?

The Youtube video is what prompted the question. It is a small 5 valve instrument. The slide configuration is not like the 482 or the 7?? BBb. Perhaps a custom built horn?

Looks a bit like a Yamaha YFB 621S F.

I assume it would be a Jupiter due to BB's connection to them.

It is a yfb-621. I saw him in concert in January with it, and spoke to him after the concert. He is using the Yamaha until Jupiter finishes the version they are making for him. Ala the Sheridan Jupiter Eb (Besson 983 clone).

I received a reply to an inquiry from Jupiter. It says he is currently using a 482, 582 and 584. The YFB-621 of course sounds soooooo good. I can't wait to hear the custom built Jupiter.
