Testing horns in the US

Where in the US can someone go to try a number of tubas? It is my understanding that WWBW no longer has a warehouse in Indiana for folks to go and test instruments before purchasing.

To be specific I'm looking to get a 6/4 CC tuba, something like (but not necessarily) MW 6450 or a large Nirschl horn. I'm particularily interested in Nirschl horns, every time I've heard or played one I've really liked it and my teacher plays one so I may be biased. But I have never seen a place to buy one new in the states.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try conventions. I know that there are a tubas you could try at the Midwest Convention in Chicago. I haven't been to it before, but you could try ITEC

ITEC is coming up later this month in Bloomington, IN. Just about every tuba worth consideration will be on display.

Horn Guys in California
Dillon's in New Jersey (NYC area)
Baltimore Brass in Baltimore, MD
Custom Music in Ferndale, MI

All deal multiple brands. Contact them individually for details.

Also, companies like Big Mouth Brass, Mack Brass, Jim Laabs Music, M&M Brass, all will work with you to try instruments. Again, contact them for information.
