Question for all you Kanstul crazies. What would (or how much) do you think it would take to con Ziggy into creating an Eflat version of the small F? I love the small F, but my brain refuses to join the 21st century and learn F. I think it would be a killer player.

It'd probably be cheaper(not that either would be inexpensive) to find one of those little York Eb tubas and have it flipped.
YORK-aholic has done such a conversion and has posted pictures of it on another post.

There was a front valve 321 Eb build on here some time back, that's an option since you have one.

In regards to Bob's comment, it's mine and it's a great player:

Thanks again to Dan Schultz, who did the conversion!

Wow Dan!
That's brilliant work. Amazing engineering on the valves... combining two sets? Wow.

A few years ago I sent an email to Zig about doing just that-an EEb based on their small F. At that time he said he thought they could do it but the price was 12 grand! If you start a campaign I'd be happy to join in.

If it's an F-like Eb you're looking for, Besson has the 984 Eb -4 front pistons and 15" bell. A great player with a beautiful mellow tone.

Yes, since February.

What settings do you use it? May I ask what the price was?

So far, I have only played solo with it. I'm getting ready to try it out with a small church orchestra and plans for small group use. I play a Besson 982 in a couple of bands and will try it out with them as well. (I've been getting used to the 4 front vs the 3 +1 on the 982.). It is said to be for use like an F tuba.
The cost was about 10k.

The Kanstul 33s and 66t are very nice Eb horns. I know the F is a bit smaller, but these horns are currently available for significantly less than $12,000 and are solo, quintet, band, and small orchestra horns. They are not very big in size but put out a very nice large (if you want it) sound.

I think you mean 66s and 66t. The 33s is a BBb.
