I'm pretty sure it's a Holton. There's one like it here in town Ed

This one has the secondary top bow below the primary ditto.

The one in the posted photo has the said bow sitting on the front of the top bow.

Found a possibily better source on my disk. Cannot read the print on the rear of the post card, but here it is in plain and inversed versions for those with sharp eyes.

ah...it's one of those "Correspondence Here" tubas...manufactured by "Name and Address Here".

Obviously stamped out, not hammered.

I'm 95% sure that's a Martin. To me, the only unusual element is the third valve slide configuration which I don't recall ever seeing on a Martin.

Where does the short-stack term come from?

Sales point from Martin?

Referring to the folded 3rd loop or to a narrow right hand grip?

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing it's because it's such a short and wide tuba. Like a short-stack of pancakes.

Side note -- the short-stack tuba reminds me of the Gnagey 6/4 that BigBob owns.

Gut reaction, reinforced from the discussion, is Martin. However, there are a few very similar Yorks out there.
