They're beautiful. You're fortunate to have both to enjoy!

Even though the York Monster sousa I tooted on years ago was messed up the beautiful, overtone-y, mellow York sound still came thru :tuba: I hope that sousa has been repaired and isn't just sitting around or worse.... :?

I'll just say that I'd take the York Monster sousa anyday over the Conn Jumbo...

Great pics :!:

Have you ever played on a Conn Grand Jumbo before?
No. But I've played the Conn 20K, Continental Colonial (14K stencil) and the fiberglass model (36K?). And I've heard others on them as well as the Conn Jumbo vids. Just not a big fan of the Conn tuba/sousa sound; especially the bigger models. Much prefer the Holtons, Yorks and Kings. :tuba:

All those old manufacturers had their own "signature sound", whether the tuba/sousa was 5/4 size or 4/4 size. A King Giant sousa - though bigger than the standard 4/4 models - still had that signature "King" sound, just a larger version of it. The Conn 20K sounds like a bigger version of the 14K, and so on.
