Hey everyone,

I have an issue with my first valve slide not pulling as easily as it should. Let me explain:

First, I took the slide out and cleaned it. Then, I re-greased it, and put the slides in, one slide at a time to rotate them around to coat the entire slide, per normal. Well, during this process, one of the pipes started catching/scruffing when I got about 1.5" from the handle. I ruled out the possibility of it being inside the receiving pipe when it I swapped the slide around and tried it on the opposite side.

I've attached pictures of what the slide looks like. You can clearly see where it starts catching. Has anyone had a similar issue? Anyone know a solution?

I can't tell much from the photos and I'm not an expert anyway. But logic would tell me you have some debris in there. If it were me, I would start by using some good degreasing soap/detergent/whatever to swap out the inside of the outer slide and the outside AND inside of the inner slide. I'm wondering if a piece of grit is being held in place by the grease.

That's what I figured it was, too--debris inside the outer slide... However, when I flip the slide around and put the good, unaffected side of the slide in the same outer slide and pull it up and down, there's no friction at all.

I will try cleaning out the inside of the outer slide. I wonder, if there IS debris, if the friction is caused by the damage it's done to the inside slide (the uneven scratched surface). If that's the case, I'll need to buffer the slide down, I guess.

Looks like you have a piece of microscopic grit imbedded in the brass.
