Twins Molly and Emma Sayles joined my youth jazz band a few years ago on drums and trombone, respectively. Last summer they sat in with members of several different adult bands in a late-night jam session at the Hot Steamed Jazz Festival. Unfortunately you can't see Molly but you can certainly hear her fine drumming. Emma is right in front, improvising on a couple of tunes that she had never played before.

You're right, Art. Molly has great forward motion, and Emma really picks up the changes well--particularly in "Kiss to Build a Dream On."

The helicon player sound darn fine, too.

Nice miking.

Hi Art,

The girls did a great job!

BTW - Who is the banjo player in the videos?

Larry Z.

That was Bob Barta from Long Island on banjo. Jeff Hughes from Boston and Ben Mauger from PA on trumpets, Craig Ball from Boston on clarinet. Jeff Barnhart (CT) played piano on one of the tunes, but I don't recall the other names.
