Hello everyone!
I figured this would be a good place to ask this question, so what are some recommendations for a bass trombone stand? The bass trombone I use is has a Thayer double trigger. It would also be convenient so I could use it with my tenor bone as well, leading me to look at the Hercules stand. Help me guys!

I used it for a double trigger bass w/ 10.5" bell. It has four legs instead of three, so it is not so tippy. It also fits in the bell.

I have used the lightweight K&M for 15 years with my double trigger Besson without a problem. It is not usually recommended for Bass Trombone use but I have never had a failure or even a problem. You have to get used to your horn wobbling a bit but it won't fall over even if it looks like it will. It does scare my stand mates though. I will probably bite the bullet and get a heavier stand some day but the little K&M does the job, folds up inside my bell for transport and gets me chuckles on occasion.

Agreed. I've used the same stand for 15 years with bass trombones of varying weights and shapes. No problems.

I've never seen a 4-legged bass trombone stand, but frankly, I've never been worried about my K&M falling over. I do, however, always position the slide close to a leg of the stand, rather than halfway between two legs, as this gets the weight from the body of the instrument directly over the leg, putting it in it's most stable position. This is probably not necessary, but I do it anyway.

If you're really paranoid, there's a few people out there making trombone stands out of cymbal stands. I have one that will easily hold a contrabass trombone. You're more likely to break your toe on it than have it fall over...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've also talked with my local low brass repairman and he recommends the Hercules DS420B. So I think I'll use that, while I secretly building the one out of a cymbal stand in preparation for a contra... MUAHAHAHAHA!

At home I have a couple of the cheapest three leg stands the local instrument store sells. The height is adjustable to be useful for everything from a bass trumpet to a cb trbn. I always have some instruments on them to be able to practice some whenever I want. Works fine but not as stable as the four legged 'tank' versions we have at work. I also have a couple of pricey K&M stands of some smaller model, but they are very delicate and works best for the alto trbn. So maybe it depends a little on what environment you are going to use it in.

I have whatever Kanstul shipped with their contras. You could stick a car on that thing but I've never wanted to haul it anywhere with me.

It's more stable than anything I've seen on the market
