I recently bought a 1910 Holton Eb tuba and the mouthpiece that came with it is a Buescher True-tone 60. The mouthpiece is in really bad shape but works really well with the tuba. What would be a modern mouthpiece the same size???? The shank is incredibly small and the cup size is larger than a bass trombone.

Yes. The Wick numbered mouthpieces without the "L" have the smaller shank. They are standard stock items, not special order. My preference for Eb is the Wick 3.

I know you said "larger than bass trombone", but it would be funny if that old Holton 60 turned out to be the same dimensions as a modern Schilke 60.

If you don't have calipers and a set of drill bits, it might be time to get something inexpensive and start measuring everything. We can say "oh yeah, Denis Wick makes that", etc., but so far it doesn't sound like anyone's actually seen this same mouthpiece, so we're kind of pulling out stock answers to the stock questions.

I guess shank is the hardest thing to measure, if only because its dimensions are kind of critical. If it's really exactly the same as Denis Wick's small shank, then in my experience that's a hair smaller than a standard bass trombone shank. Check the "For Sale" section, there could be something there for you at a much better price than what you'll pay for anything new.
