Two years ago, I was hired on as Principal Tuba, Solo Tuba, and Out-of-Tune Song-Stylist with the Beale Street Streakers Jazz Orchestra.
It's a per-service orchestra...c. thirty - forty services per year @ $100 per 1.75 hr. service. Our Saturday concert series are performed in the American Eagle and Queen of the Mississippi...uh..."concert halls".
Benefits include extremely good coffee, gourmet teas, soft drinks, homemade cookies, various type of granola/candy bars, and fresh fruit.
I used my Buescher CC helicon to win the job, but later moved over to my Besson compensating recording bell Eb tuba (after consulting with the Music Director, of course).
bloke "It pays more - and with considerably better benefits - than quite a few per-service orchestras, eh?"

I don't know when Gary Adams won Wheeling Symphony, but I think he was playing a Yamaha 661 at the time.

Leto, please correct the spelling of Mike Sanders. It's not Saunders.
And he won the San Antonio Symphony audition in 1973 using an Alexander 163. He was using a B&S Symphonie F tuba and a Hirsbrunner HB-50 when he won the St. Louis audition in 1991 (and also the two times he was appointed as Interim Principal with the Utah Symphony, in 1987 and again in 1989).
Rick "noting a prior mention of this correction" Denney
I've won an audition with the Dutch "Marinierskapel der Koninklijke Marine", the Dutch Marines Band, on a Hirsbrunner Cc 290 rotor tuba, and a Miraphone Belcanto F rotor Tuba.
This was in 2013.

Added a few more but policy won't let me write more than 10000 characters. Can any moderator change this so the list is all on one page? Part 2 of list is on this page starting on MIRAPHONE 186.
