Artistic: Baltimore Symphony

DAVID FEDDERLY has retired as principal tuba of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra after 31 years in that post. He performed his final concert with the BSO on July 17 at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. A veteran music educator, Fedderly holds a faculty post at Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University and has conducted residency activities at universities throughout the U.S. This fall he will launch a new class at the University of Maryland-College Park. Fedderly will continue to operate his instrument sales and service firm, Baltimore Brass Company.

Whoa! Having lived in Baltimore almost all of my life, I can't tell how many times I've heard him play.

Happy retirement to him, but I'm bummed that I didn't make it back for his last concert!
