Sumner still sounds really fine. He's still playing on his 186 Miraphone that he used in Pittsburgh. We've gotten together since I moved here, but I've only heard him play with the Austin Symphony Brass Quintet. I find it amazing that he also plays guitar and sings in a band, but he also still plays tuba at a very high level! He makes me wish I never sold my 1972, 186.

Sumner sounded really great playing on Zarathustra with the Austin Symphony recently.
He's playing with Pittsburgh on this recording of Fountains with the recently departed Lorin Maazel:
