What should be your favorite is Yakkety Tuba as, for example, on the Tubas From Hell CD by Dave Gannett et al.

Why? Waddaya mean why! That's like asking why is fried chicken and homemade ice cream better than sushi.

OK, so it's a tuba and piano duet recording.

Marty Erickson and John Sheridan:

Fun to listen to over and over again :tuba:

Tuba Carnival - Oystein Baadsvik. I absolutely love his sound, phrasing, and "Winter" :D

I think the BOBO recording is still one of the best.
For tuba ensemble my favorite is the first Tenn Tech Univ recording.

Sergio Carolino's Steel aLive CD.

The rep is varied/fun and the performance is so good. I highly recommend it for anyone that hasn't heard it.

Michael Lind "Play Tuba".
- The title tells the truth.
- Various ensemble settings, ranging from solo via piano and classical wind quintet to horn ensemble
- remarkable playing throughout.
- I´d consider him one of Europe´s "Early Greats" that contributed to the emancipation of Tuba.

Another one: Walter Hilgers, "Tuba Tubissima"
- That was the very Tuba CD I bought to celebrate my decision to switch from flugelhorn to tuba
- his expert playing encouraged me to pursue tone quality rather than technique, which regardless of success is a good strategy for a beginning amateur tubist.
