SERTEC Lodging

Post by David Zerkel »

If you plan on coming to SERTEC in March, the time has come for you to book your hotel!

I received a call from the sales rep at the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express that there are very few people booked, and that this is promising to be a relatively tough hotel week in Athens. This means one of three things:

1.) Nobody has booked anything yet at any hotel...
2.) People are booking at cheaper hotels (which is fine!!) or...
3.) Nobody's coming. (A prospect that is pretty spooky from where I'm sitting!)

I have blocked about 100 rooms at the HI and HI Express. I chose these properties due to their proximity to the University and their proximity to the legendary nightlife of downtown Athens.

If you are planning on coming to SERTEC, I would recommend that you book soon. The Holiday Inn will remove the room block and start selling rooms to any old body on March 3. If you would like to book at the conference rate, you should do so by March 2.

You may find out about the Holiday Inn, link to other properties, and book directly online by visiting http://www.arches.uga.edu/~dzerkel/sertec/athens.html

Thanks!

I booked a room at the Best Western in Athens for $50 through Orbitz. That's $20-$30 cheaper than the Holiday Inn's per night.

All I need is a visit from the upgrade fairy to a suite!
