Chicago tuba meet-up?

Chicago-area TubeNetters:

Would anyone be interested in a meet-up, geared primarily at the opportunity to try different horns? This is not intended as an elephant-room situation, nor a casual bang-around. The intended demographic would be college-age (and currently enrolled or about-to-enroll as a music major) and up, and the primary goal being the opportunity to try different horns. As we know, as much as Chicago is known as being a "brass town," it's amazing that to shop for a new horn, you've got to drive or fly a number of hours. I've been in the market for some different gear (need horns that might be a better ergonomic fit) and just haven't had the opportunity to try some of the different things in which I think I might be interested, and am increasingly frustrated with having to pay $120+ to get into MidWest just to try a few horns.

I don't yet have a date/time/place in mind, but thought I'd see if anyone was up for this before posting a bunch of "Does anyone near Chicago have a ____?" several times over. I'm thinking there may be others thinking as I am, and perhaps enough of us are like-minded and have a variety of horns that may suit each others' curiosities (I have a Thor and Petruschka). If it seems there are enough of us interested, perhaps a vendor or two might be interested in the drive. Who knows; it could happen.

If you are interested, please PM me (no need to take up board space) with your name, generic availability, and present equipment. If enough people are up for it, I'll work on putting together a date/time/place.

Thanks for reading!
