Miraphone 186 dimensions

If anyone has their 186 and a tape measure handy, I'd be appreciative if you would post the dimensions of the horn according to this measurement guide:

https://www.altieribags.com/secure/br_orderform.html" target="_blank
(scroll down a bit)

I'm in the market for a gig bag that will fit a YBB321, have noticed that a few manufacturers list the 186 bag as compatible and would like to compare the actual horn dimensions.

I'm interested in a few different bags, but the Altieri method provides a good common point of reference.

Thanks!

That's interesting that manufacturers indicate that a bag for a Miraphone 186 and a Yamaha YBB-321 with work for both. Size-wise... this may be correct but be careful about where the carrying handle is on the bag relative to the leadpipe on the horn. You want the leadpipe toward the handle.

I'm assuming Dan's advice is aimed at the idea that if you set the horn down on it's side holding it by the handle it would rest on the lead pipe if the bag is made for the 186 and your using it for a 321. The other issue is the orientation of the bell area of the bag as the bell of a 186 and 321 will be on opposite sides and beyond the protection issue a real tight fitting bag would be a fit problem if the bell area of the bag is oriented toward the right side for a 186 and not the left side for your 321.

Having said that...I have a Besson New Standard (probably the same dimensions as your 321) and a Miraphone 185 (close in size to a 186 but a bit smaller) and I use the same Cronkite bag for both. I never set the bag down on it's side, but this particular bag is so well padded that I don't imagine that would be an issue and both horns fit well.

.....
That is correct. Generally... it's not good to use a bag designed for a front-action horn to carry a top-action horn... and vice-versa.

To the original poster.... here is a .jpg of a form I did for a Cronkhite bag for a 186 a while bag.
