How far from the bell are the 3 pitches of the 621 models identical. I would guess that at least bell and bottom bow are same for all.

There was a thread on leather versus cordura. As I remember it, the conclusion was along these lines:

Leather: better protection, heavier, takes maintenance with leather soap, more expensive

Cordura: lighter, cheaper

I have around a dozen gig bags, most of them pre-China Blues Reunion (= Cronkhite). One is leather, the rest is cordura.

With all gig bags it is worthwhile to cover the leadpipe with a tightly woven cloth. It saves wear on the gig bag lining. And much less fluff will enter the windway, where it eventually would harm the valve action.

I had a Cronkhite bag for my Cerveny 653 F tuba, which is physically the same size as the YFB-621, so the bag I owned was actually made to the 621's dimensions. Perfect fit. It had the configuration Wade mentions... no detachable front pouch. I had a large Cronkhite bag for my Marzan at the same time, and I liked the "no pouch" bag a LOT more. From a practical standpoint, I never detached it anyway. From another standpoint, I just didn't like the way it looks with the pouch, and I think it looks much cleaner without it on the front.

I thought the big Cronkhite case was a little hard to carry for long distances, and seems to hang a bit low on your back. The small bag was great though, no problems at all with it, just an awesome case. For a small horn, a well-fitting and high quality case is even more noticeable, and is absolutely worth the cost. Especially when considering that a new Alteiri gig bag (which I really have never liked, and don't "get") costs only $100 less.

I forgot to post a photo... Here are my two Cronkhite bags. I no longer have either the bags or the tubas.

Does anyone know much about adding a waist belt to these? The Horn guys website mentions it:

"So I went to REI and got a waist belt from a mountaineering backpack called the Wonderland. The belt was about $30. I attached it to the bottom connection of the shoulder straps on my Cronkhite case, and now much of the weight of the tuba is carried on my hips rather than on my shoulders. It's much more comfortable, let me tell you."

And can anyone post a picture of the straps side of the case? Thanks!
