My name is Steve Darling. I am currently a graduate student at Ohio University pursuing a degree in euphonium performance/brass pedagogy. I am an advocate of new music, particularly literature that expands the horizons of the body of literature available to our instruments.

I recently suggested to composer Sy Brandon, my interest in a series of Intermezzi in a Third Stream style for euphonium and piano at a college level. We have formed a commissioning consortium to make this happen. The way this consortium works is for interested parties to agree to pay a $25 participation fee upon receipt of a pdf copy of the music. The fee will be refunded when you send a program to Mr. Brandon showing that you performed the work at an ASCAP licensed venue.

The participating musicians have the right to a local premiere for one year following the receipt of the composition and inclusion of the group name in the dedication.
For more information about this and other consortia, please visit http://www.cooppress.net/page9/page385/index.html" target="_blank

The deadline for expressing interest is October 15, 2014. I think this is an outstanding opportunity for those of us that are interested in third stream, new music, and commissioning a new work in a cost-effective manner. I encourage all those interested to take part.

Best,

Steve Darling
